Spring 2023 Issue

Spring+2023+Issue

Spring 2023 Team

It’s the final countdown!

It feels like this year has flown by, but get ready because Tower Times still has a lot in store for you!

Our fourth quarter has been filled with planning this issue, the next and final issue of the year and learning more about the ins and outs of journalism.

This issue, our fourth issue of the year, is unique from the others. Half of it is our usual content, but the other half is pure satire. The idea of “Sour Times” came to be in 1999, for April Fools Day. We wanted to incorporate the concept into this issue and chose to do so with a split issue. So, if you’re in the mood for laughs, turn your copy upside down, flip the page and start reading! We are excited to give you a look into “Sour Times” and hope to continue it in the future!

On the more serious content side, upperclassmen members of Tower Times attended the NEWSPA journalism conference at UW-Oshkosh, where Tower Times took home Red Ribbon Honors. We also had seven individual awards in reporting, humorous columns and design. We could not be prouder of the work our team has put into our publication this year. Every single person who has contributed to Tower Times made it better and shared their voice with the student body.

As a student publication written for and by students, we have the ability to freely report on issues the student body cares about and elevate student voices for the school community to hear.

Our voices, as students, are rarely explicitly heard, but Tower Times is a forum where anyone can contribute their perspective. Every time we put out a new edition, there is someone new who has shared their voice. Next issue or even next year, that could be your new voice.

We cannot wait to share our final issue of the year with you at the end of May, which will feature all things summer and the Class of 2023! Stay tuned!
